Project Summary

42 shell piles were driven to support the new York Township Salt Dome in Lombard, Illinois. Two of those piles were driven to capacity and tested to determine that the final length of the remaining piles was to be 60’. They needed to reach the required bearing of 380 kips. The thick layer of lean clay made them easy to drive and the project went smoothly. The remaining piles were driven in 3 days.
