Earth retention system requirements are often complex and can necessitate a variety of engineered solutions to allow further construction to be performed safely. At Stalworth we have a team of in-house engineers, a history addressing the different soil profiles and geotechnical challenges presented in the Chicago market, and a wide assortment of equipment that has allowed us to provide these solutions. From soldier pile and lagging systems, to soil nail walls, to sheet piling systems and beyond, we are equipped to provide the safe and appropriate solution on your jobsite.
At Stalworth Underground we strive to find solutions that will reduce cost and expedite the schedule of the overall project. Our ability to perform a diverse scope of services in addition to possessing an array of cutting-edge equipment allows us to analyze and approach a job from any angle. However, we realize that jobs aren’t built at bid time and there is always room for improvement. Our experience, both in the office and out in the field, gives us the capability to continually assess a project from bid to completion and provide optimal solutions throughout the course of work.
Located right off Lake Michigan and infused with a network of waterways, Chicago and the surrounding area can present the challenge of keeping water out of the worksite. We have found that marine construction to keep your worksite dry, new river walls, or repairs of other waterway installations, often requires creative solutions, such as building a causeway to install a cofferdam, or driving sheet piles from a barge. We know how to work in water so that you don’t have to.
A shifting, or even worse collapsing building next to your jobsite can be extremely dangerous to everyone involved. When excavating near an existing structure it can be necessary to underpin that structure to assure its stability. By utilizing different techniques, such as jacked push piers or helical piers, we can provide this stability for any structure that is at risk of damage or cease and possibly revert any settlement that may have already occurred.
Equipped with a wide fleet of equipment and a team comprised of seasoned veterans, we don’t shy away from work that may not fall nicely into any of the above categories. From tremmie pouring pier slabs to laying out causeways, we have the ability to get things done. We aim to get your entire project completed and have the flexibility to make that happen.
